Materia
Art makes tangible the material that dreams are made of. Our dream is to convey all the love we have for ceramics through this collection. Materia, with an irregular but elegant shape, adapts to the most diverse occasions. The hand-made edge, as well as the immersion in the glaze, makes each piece “unique”.
The production of these artifacts takes place entirely with artisanal processes, without the use of industrial methods. Arcucci ceramics are distinguished by a white base, covered with an artisanal glaze rich in local minerals, and decorations made by hand with a wide range of warm and bright colors, obtained from natural oxides and through different manual techniques.
The “biscuit” is made by pressing, using sophisticated automatic equipment. Plaster molds are used, a material that absorbs water from the wet mass. Subsequently, the ceramic body contracts, facilitating extraction from the mold. This process requires skill, precision and specific technical training. As with porcelain, the artefacts undergo an initial firing at 750-800 °C to transform into a “biscuit”, before being glazed and subjected to a second firing at 850-1100 °C. The use of lower temperatures allows the majolica to obtain bright and brilliant colours and glazes.
