Preta

The Preta collection takes its name from the Neapolitan dialect, where “preta” means stone, a reference to Arcucci’s Neapolitan origins. This collection is inspired by stone, with irregular surfaces and shapes. It brings a breath of joy and conviviality to your table, thanks to its materiality enhanced by the brilliance and bright and resistant colors, which our master ceramist carefully applies to each object. The use of lower temperatures allows the majolica or ceramic to obtain bright colors and brilliant glazes. After the application of the color, each piece is brush-finished with a brown edge and immersed in crystalline, before the second final firing at 960 °C. The production of these artifacts is completely artisanal, without industrial processes. Arcucci ceramics are distinguished by a white base, covered with a handmade glaze rich in local minerals and hand-decorated with a wide range of warm and bright colors, obtained from natural oxides and different manual techniques. The “biscuit” is made by pressing, using sophisticated automatic equipment. Plaster molds are used, a material that absorbs the humidity of the wet mass. Subsequently, the ceramic body contracts, allowing for easy extraction from the mold. This process requires manual skill, precision and specific technical training. As with porcelain, the artifacts undergo an initial firing at 750-800 °C to transform into a “biscuit,” before being glazed and subjected to a second firing at 850-1100 °C.
